What are some of the best ways to sleep all through the night during pregnancy?

My wife is now twenty four weeks pregnant, and five days! She has been having a lot of trouble with sleeping lately. She wakes up constantly un able to stay comfortable, and constantly staying hot, to the point to where she is sweating. What do you know of that helps? Any tips or tricks on how to allow her to sleep through the night will be great appreciated!

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Sleeping during pregnancy is a difficult challenge, particularly as you near the end. It's hard to find any comfortable position, and your body temperature will change frequently. My best advice is to use pillows to your advantage. Place a regular pillow between your legs, and it will take more pressure off of your back and abdomen. If this doesn't work, purchase a full body pillow and see if that makes a difference.

A spray bottle with ice water in it can help when she gets very hot. She can spritz herself with cool water when she gets too hot. She could also try having an oscillating fan nearby. These can help, too.

I hope she is able to sleep soon.

I have been having the same problem all through my pregnancy. What helps: a nice massage, a little physical activity before bed, putting ghee or oil on the soles of your feet and covering with thin cotton socks, getting a basti (type of ayurvedic hot oil enema), drinking calming tea, watching a movie or listening to music to put yourself to sleep. Good luck, I know that it's definitely no fun!
