Is peppermint tea good before sleep? What about green tea?

Do they relax before sleep?

Green tea contains a small amount of caffeine and for that reason isn't the best choice. Peppermint tea will not keep you awake but it it is more often used to calm an upset stomach than to induce sleep. Some good teas to try to help you dose off are Valerian, Chamomile, Lemon Balm, or Passion Flower. St. John's Wort can help if taken daily, especially if underlying anxiety or mild depression are the root cause of the sleeping issue.

Lemon balm is incredible easy to grow. A form of mint, it will take over any small garden bed, so if you plant some near your kitchen door in a place where it can go wild you can step out and pick leaves for fresh lemon balm tea whenever you like. It smells lovely.

Warm milk or a starchy light snack an hour before bed can help you drop off too.

Peppermint, yes. Also spearmint. Green tea, no. Unless the caffeine is removed, many green teas are loaded with it. Alternative option. Tryptophan aids in the production of serotonin, which helps to regulate sleep patterns. It is found in milk. Heat milk, add honey, nutmeg or cinnamon. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz............

peppermint tea can be good for sleep but its not the best. My favourite is chamomile tea and the best has to be chamomile flowers from www.teapigs.co.uk. whole flowers (really pretty) which taste good and relax you within minutes...honestly, this stuff is proper! I always have to time when I drink it as I am so sleepy after half a cup I can;t watch tv or anything!!! Steer clear of green tea as all green tea naturally caffiene has a little bit of caffiene and de-caff has nasty chemicals used on it :(
