Is it better to workout at night or in the morning if you have trouble sleeping?

Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Working out during the day works best for me. Around 5 is when I seem to have the best energy. Try some protein about 30 min before bed. Also taking magnesium will relax your muscles and prepare you for sleep.

I suffer from back pain almost every night. I find it helpful to excercise after dinner, before bed. The excercise and following hot shower help to loosen the muscles, causing a more relaxing sleep. But, if I excercise too close to bedtime, I find that the bloodflow and adrenaline make it harder for me to sleep.

That makes sense.
I do also find a hot shower shortly before bed allows me to fall asleep better.

Taking a hot bath instead of a shower can also help induce sleep, since you aren't standing as you would be during a shower. Brendon has a point also that if you exercise too close to when you plan on sleeping, the physical "high" keeps you going instead of helping you sleep.
