Best non-prescription sleeping pill, in your opinion? Any differences between various brands that have the same active ingredient?
I tend to use Sominex ... it usually works for me to take a couple of the regular strength version (the ones that come in blue tablet form) at bedtime. I haven't felt moved to check out other brands … they all seem to have diphenhydramine as their active ingredient.
I am wondering ... is there any difference between the effectiveness of the different brands that have the same dose of diphenhydramine as active ingredient? And is there a newer-better-faster sleeping pill available without a prescription that I don't know about?
Please don't recommend Melatonin ... I could take 10 of these and stay up all night :-)

I actually do know of a medication that you can take fro helping you go to sleep. It is actually an all natural(no harmful ingredients) over the counter pill that allows you to drift fast to sleep with no worries, problems, or concerns! This pill is called Valerian Root, which in Latin means "to be healthy or strong". This herb has many uses it can help treat many liver problems, insomnia(which is where your question comes in!), epilepsy, nausea, and many other things as well. This herb is sometiems used to be a natural treatment to replace medications such as prozac, and or xanex. So if you are looking for a more healthy alternative to over the counter sleeping pills this might be something to look into.
